In a major step towards green and sustainable transportation, India has introduced its first hydrogen-powered train, which will operate on an 89-km route in Haryana.
The train uses hydrogen fuel cell technology to generate electricity by combining hydrogen and oxygen, making it a cleaner and eco-friendly alternative to conventional diesel-powered trains. This innovative technology produces zero direct carbon emissions, with water being the primary by-product.
The launch marks a significant milestone in India’s efforts to modernize its railway network while reducing its environmental footprint. If the project proves successful, hydrogen-powered trains could be introduced on more routes across the country in the future.
